|Seeking vine to grow on n/ne facing 10th floor balcony, against wall which gets very little sun all day.
Trying to add some height to the plantings.
Any suggestions for this or for vines to put in other areas of the terrace w/3-4 hours of indirect sun?
|You might try a clematis or a climbing hydrangea, particularly if there is reflected light, if you want a perennial flowering vine. Otherwise, Virginia Creeper, English Ivy and the assorted Euonymous fortunei group will all grow in low light and climb and are attractive and very hardy. Another alternative is to use either hanging or upright planters with cascading plants such as English ivy (don't forget the variegated forms), variegated Vinca major, and the tropical asparagus fern for example. Topiary forms are anotehr possibility. If you are willing to use tropical plants you will find the choices widen dramatically even though the light level is low. Good luck with your project!|
