I want to plant some type of bush or plant in front of my home the area is approximately 3 feet wide and is next to my sidewalk leading out of my house. I am looking for some type of plant/bush/shrub that would fit in that area. I was hoping for something that would grow tall and somewhat round. Nothing that requires alot of pruning. If possible something with some type of colorful flower. I currently have two poodle pom-poms under my window.

Based on your description I am assuming it is a sunny area. You might enjoy the summer blooming spirea bushes which bloom in assorted shades of pink and tend to stay at three feet or less with a neatly rounded shape. Some of them also have a bright gold or reddish foliage color. Other blooming plants in that size range would inlcude potentilla shrubs which bloom during the summer in shades of white, yellow, and pink and the always popular spring blooming peonies. Another possibility might be dwarf conifers, many of which have colorful foliage although they do not produce colorful blooms. Yet another possibility might be the dwarf barberries which stay under three feet and are available with red or gold foliage. The Euonymomous fortunei group of shrubs also offer colorful foliage with variegation in either white or gold and would fit into your space quite well.
