I have baby tears growing in my lawn and it is taking over. How can I kill the baby tears without killing what little grass that is still growing through. Some parts of my lawn have quite a bit of baby tears and other parts have just a little for now. It has spread quite rapidly within the last 6 months, although is has been in my lawn for quite some time. My lawn gets quite a lot of shade so it's not easy growing grass in the first place.

Once you've removed the weedy plants by digging them out, you can apply a preemergent weed killer such as WeedzSTOP, which is made from corn gluten. This organic weed control is nontoxic to people and pets and grass. You may need to resort to pulling some weeds by hand after a rain has softened the soil. Pull as many weeds as you can before they flower, then apply the herbicide. You may be able to find WeedzSTOP at a local nursery, or you can order it from Gardener's Supply in Burlington, VT, (800) 863-1700. Good luck with your weed eradication project!
