We just put in a new flower bed and put in a lot of annuals. Some are small. When can we put on some mulch? Should we wait until they have started to grow?

Go ahead and apply mulch right now. It's a great way to retain soil moisture and reduce weeds. However, if you have any plants that need warmer soil temperatures, such as tomatoes or peppers, you might want to let the soil warm up before applying mulch. Some people find that black plastic used as mulch is effective for this use. Good luck with your new flower bed!
