I would like to plant strawberries in containers. My question is, how much space is actually required for them to grow well? I have a very large container, at least 15 gallons. How many plants will fit in this container?

Planted in beds, strawberry plants should stand 12-18" apart, and then the daughter plants that form can be used to fill in the spaces between. In your case, you probably want to trim off any daughter plants that form. Since I don't know the surface dimension of your pot, I can't say how many plants will fit, but you can plant them 8" apart. You'll need to water them often to keep the soil evenly moist, but not wet. Mix a slow-release organic fertilizer in with the potting mix to feed the berry plants, and once per month spritz them with a kelp/seaweed fertilizer. Enjoy!
