I was wondering why the leaves have started to fall on my Crabapple tree- it was planted last spring ( 1998) and then went into shock because the weather got so warm one week and then freezing the next week. I also did not have any buds or flowers this spring (1999). I don't know what to do.

Although it sounds like your tree got off to a rocky start which may account for some of the lack of vigor and lack of blooms, it may also be suffering from one of the numerous foliar problems that attack apple trees in general. You might wish to take a sample to your County Extension (349-1247) for a specific identification of the problem and suggested controls. In the meantime, pick up and remove and destroy any fallen leaves to try to limit the source of reinfection. Good luck with your tree!
