What is the easiest way to fertilize a large perennial bed with assorted plants? I am in poor health and need a "easy" way to fertilize. |
One way to provide nutrients to your plants is to mulch the entire bed with 2"-3" of compost. Mulching with organic matter will help the soil retain moisture, help suppress weeds, and provide nutrients to the roots of the plants as the organic matter decomposes. An alternative would be to broadcast a granular all-purpose fertilizer over the entire bed and water it in well. Use a 10-10-10 formulation and sprinkle 2-3 pounds on the soil surface per 100 square feet of garden bed. |
