Bulbinella floribunda is a perennial plant with a tuberous rootstock. It is native to South Africa and valued for winter color. The plant forms a large clump of 20"-26" in height, and has narrow, floppy leaves topped with 4" long spikes of clear yellow flowers. It's a low-maintenance plant, perfect for sunny borders. Provide some shade from hot afternoon sun; water in spring, but keep on the dry side during the summer. Bulbinella will establish colonies in a short time. Divide the crowded clumps in the winter and pull off the old, dry foliage after bloom.
