Growing Marigolds - Knowledgebase Question

I started marigolds from seed about 2 months ago. The plants are now 12+ inches tall, but have yet to start flowering. In the past I have bought marigolds that were shorter than these & were already in full bloom. Is there anything I should do to get them started or will they start flowering on their own?

Some varieties begin blooming later than others, but once they start they keep on going until frost, adn some varieties are simply larger overall plants than others. Many commercially grown varieties are known to start blooming "in the packs" because they sell better that way, too. An average blooming time might be ten weeks or so, so your plants are not "behind."
