|Tiny webs have appeared all over the trunk and lower branches of my tree. The webs are fine, but they are so numerous that they cover the trunk in a thick covering. They are not like those of bag worms or web worms. Are they cause for concern? What do you recommend?|
|I the webs are on the trunk, covering the bark like "angel hair" used in holiday decorating, the cause is most likely bark lice. These insects are not pests of the tree. They spin the web for protection and feed beneath it on moss and lichens growing on the bark.
Think of them as good guys cleaning up your tree trunks for you!
