If you were an amateur vegetable gardener and could have only one reference book on crop diseases, what would it be?

As a new gardener you would benefit from knowing how to plant, feed, water and manage your vegetable crops, because a healthy plant is less susceptible to insect and disease problems. The one book that I consult for specifics on every vegetable, shrub and flower imaginable is Rodale's Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening. It's full of practical, easy to understand information, and covers subjects from soil to fertilizer to planting techniques, as well as common maladies of food plants. It's published by Rodale Press, 33 East Minor St., Emmaus, PA 18098. ISBN# 0-87596-599-7.
