I have dahlia in a Figaro mix. The plants get flower buds on them get ready to bloom then seem to rot on stem. A few will bloom but 80% don't. Plants look healthy. Water with Miracle-gro every 2 weeks. What could be the matter with plants?

Bud blast is a common problem with dahlia's and other flowering plants. It's usually associated with a shortage of water at the top of the plant. This could be due to root injury or cold soils, or caused by high temperatures during cloudy weather. It might also be a result of too little sunshine. If your dahlia's are receiving full sunshine, and are watered regularly, the problem is self-limiting and should improve as the season progresses. For now, jus prune the affected stems and buds from the plants to avoid disease problems.
