| While in Spain, I saw a lot of small green and yellow hedges. I found something which I think is the same plant in a nursery here called Euoymus Fortunel. Can you tell me anything about this plant? Does it sound like the same thing I saw? Will it survive a Minnesota winter, how far apart do you plant them, etc. |
| I think you mean Euonymus fortunei, which comes in many low-growing forms in various shades of green and yellow. Though the species E. fortunei is hardy to zone 4b, not all the cultivated varieties are. Some are groundcovers ('Colorata'), others are compact shrubs ('Emerald 'n Gold'), so spacing of plants varies. There are short, spreading evergreens in shades of yellow and green that will stand your winters -- look for Juniperus communis var. saxatilis, or 'Depressa Aurea', among others. Best of luck! |
