Freesia is a member of the Iris family. It is a corm that develops narrow, sword-shaped leaves and funnel-shaped flowers on branched, arching spikes. Plant corms for winter-flowering during late summer to autumn. Or, grow indoors in a sandy, gritty mix in bright light. Plant corms 3" deep. Outdoors give plants full sun to part afternoon shade and water regularly during growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer on a weekly basis once the flower buds start to appear. Reduce water after flowering. Dig and store the corms when the foliage dies back.
