Yellow Flowers on Tree - Knowledgebase Question

I recently saw a tree in Kentucky that I did not recognize, but would like to plant in my yard in Virginia. It was a small green tree with yellow fronds or flowers. My daughter said she thought it was a Kentucky Coffee tree, but according to your description of this tree, it has pinkish colored flowers not yellow. I would appreciate any help you can give me in identifying this tree

It is possible you saw the Panicled Goldenrain Tree (also called Varnish Tree) or Koelreuteria paniculata blooming -- it blooms in a delightful and striking yellow in June or July depending on your zone. It is a medium sized tree and is hardy from zones 5 to 9.
