| I planted a Patmore Ash a little over a week ago and now all of the leaves have turned dry. I have given it two subsequent doses of Vitamin B-1, one Tuesday and one today. Is this a transplanting shock reaction, and can we expect the tree to defoliate and then sprout new leaves. |
| It's always hard on trees and shrubs to be transplanted during the hottest months of summer. Your ash tree is exhibiting symptoms of extreme stress, both from the transplanting and from the weather. If it was strong and healthy before planting, it has a better chance of recovering from the shock, but it will take a little while. In the meantime, supply one-inch of water per week to the tree, applying slowly and allowing it to throughly wet the root mass. Don't fertilize and don't prune until next spring when the tree has become firmly established in your landscape and begins to put out new growth. |
