In the recent issue of National Gardening Magazine (the one with tomatoes on the cover) there was mention of beneficial snails as control for slugs. What are these beneficial snails? What are they called? I thank you in advance for your consideration of this question.

You're referring to Decollate Predatory Snails (Rumina decollata). You can purchase Decollate Snails from Applied Bio Pest, 3310 Net Place, Oxnard, CA 93035. Phone (805) 984-9224. One caution to keep in mind is that any time you import a creature, it may upset the natural balance of other predators in your garden.
