Verbena's can trail, as can lobelia, so those would be my first choices for a hanging basket. All but the lisianthus will grow well in a window box (lisianthus might be too tall). The geranium is about the only one that will thrive indoors in the wintertime, and many people take cuttings of their geraniums to winter over indoors, bringing color to the windowsill and giving them a jump-start on spring planting.
