I had a beautiful fern and it died two weeks ago. I had it since Mother's Day. What did I do wrong?

Ferns need bright, indirect light, an evenly moist yet not soggy soil, and high humidity to do their best. They also resent drafts. If you are running air conditioning, the environment is probably too dry for ferns without a pebble tray or a grouping of plants to raise the immediately surrounding humidity level. While I can;t say for sure this is what happened, it would be my first guess.
