When we lived in Fort Wayne, IN, I planted some Black-eyed Susan vines. I have searched and searched since we left that area for the seeds, but cannot find them anywhere. Will the vines grow in southern California? If so, where can I get the seeds?

Thunbergia alata is called Black-Eyed Susan Vine. It's a perennial that will winter over in your gardening region without trouble. Plant in full sunshine, in loose, well-draining soil and give it regular water during the growing season for best results. Seeds are available through Burpee's catalog (pg. 38). Order online at, or toll-free at (800) 888-1447.
