|The first year we planted our variegated Wiegela the leaves were distinctly variegated. The last year they have grown mostly green leaves. How do I get the old colors back, if possible?|
|In some case variegated plants are grafted, meaning the variegated top is literally attached to a robust set of roots. You may find that the roots have overgrown the top grafted section. If this is the case, prune off the green leafed branches, being careful to get right down to where they emerge from the root itself. Continue to regularly remove any that may appear.
In other cases, a variegation may not be totally stable and both variegated and green leafed shoots will spring off one branch. If this is the case, again go in and prune off any green shoots but be careful not to damage the branch itself. Again, check for these and remove them as they appear.
