My agapanthus plants have just gotten huge and obviously need to be divided. What is the best time of year to do this? The flowers are just now drooping. Can they be divided into more than one clump? Thank you for your help! |
Agapanthus, or Lily-of-the-Nile, should be divided every 5-6 years. Wait until the autumn months, after the weather cools to dig each clump, dividing into as many small plants as you wish, as long as each group of leaves has some roots attached. Amend the bed with some organic matter prior to replanting your divisions and the plants will happy for another 5-6 years. |
