|I grow my vegetables is a raised bed of aged horse manure that is currently 2 years old. Some of my vegetables, especially the carrots, have plenty of green leaves, etc. However the fruit(or should I say vegetable) is few and far between. I realize that the weather conditions have not been the best but they do not lack for water. I was told there was too much nitrogen hence the lack of fruit. Please advise if this is or could be the case and what I could do to remedy the problem.
|It is possible that there has been an excess of nitrogen, but that will decrease over time as the soil leaches. There could also be other contributing deficiencies, however. The only way to know for sure is to test your soil and make any needed changes based on that. Your County Extension (954-0900) should be able to help you with the tests and interpreting the results.|
