I bought these at the Del Mar fair. The sheet that came with them tells everything except how tall they should be to be transplanted for the first time. They were just sticks in a little 4" pot when I brought them home 2 months ago but now they are going crazy! Large leaves, about and now about 18" tall. When can I transplant them & into what size pot or in the ground? Also they seem to be related to the Jimson Weed, are they a large tropical form of that plant & are they poisonous? I have grandchildren so I should know. I'm sorry about asking more than one question, but as you can see, these would be dificult to ask separatly.

Brugmansia, or Angel's Trumpet are related to jimsonweed, and the flowers and seeds are poisonous if eaten. The plants are fast growing (6'-10' in a single season) and will grow in sun or shade. They will tolerate dry soils but thrive in rich, moist soil. You can plant yours outdoors now, or transplant into a 2-3 gallon container. You can expect impressively large fragrant tubular blooms throughout the spring and summer months.
