I bought some shrubs this past Spring. I have noticed bare areas towards the bottom of the shrubs. The shrubs still look healthy otherwise, but why are these areas bare? I was using miracle-gro on them, but then was told not to. Should I cut back the little branches even though they have nothing growing on them?

Unfortunately, the answer to your question really depends on what type of shrubs they are and why they are bare. But, if the twigs are completely dry and brown inside and out then they are truly dead and may be removed.
