|I have 2 Hotspur Red Exbury Azalea bushes that have white spots on the leaves. Itlooks like mildew and the edges of the leaves are starting to curl under. Also, it looks like tiny white dots or bugs (I can't tell which)are under the leaves. I tried a fungicide for 2 weeks and have seen no improvement. Should I continue or change the treatment.
|Based on your description it sounds like they may be suffering from lacebug which can happen repeatedly, especially during a dry season. These can be treated with several thorough applications of insecticidal soap about a week to ten days apart in order to kill adults and the next generation; be watchful for this again next spring starting in May. You might also wish to take a sample to your County Extension (343-3040) for a more definite diagnosis and suggested controls.
