|How long does it take to germinate Chile Tepin seeds?
|Many hot pepper seeds, including Tepin, have a dormancy period of up to two months if the temperatures are below 85F. If the soil were kept moist for this length of time, the seeds would rot. So, unless you can provide bottom heat in the form of heating cables or mats, soften the outer shell of the seed by soaking prior to sowing. Then sow 1/4" deep in moistened seed starting mix and place the trays or pots in a warm area, such as on top of the refrigerator. Seeds should sprout in 21-30 days.
