When I purchased my home it had beautiful rose bushes with it. They are growing out of control. They come with very beautiful roses, I just would like to know when and how to trim them?

Most roses are pruned in early spring, but the actual techniques vary depending on which types of roses you are growing. You might wish to take a look at a basic book or two about growing and caring for roses, because for the best results you do need to do things according to an approximate schedule. One I particularly like because it is straighforward and has excellent pruning diagrams, is "Roses for Dummies" by Lance Walheim, ISBN 0-7645-5031-4.
