I'm not sure whether you're referring to rape seed or broccoli rabe, so here's some background information on both: Rape seed is Brassica napus. It is sometimes grown for young leaves used as potherb; but is more generally grown as forage for livestock feed, and as source of rapeseed oil. Rape oil used in food industry, as an illuminant and lubricant, and for soap manufacture.

Broccoli rabe is also spelled broccoli raab, brocoletti di rape, brocoletto, and rapini. Botanically the plant is called Brassica rapa. Broccoli rabe resembles thin, leafy, sparsely budded broccoli stalks. Broccoli rabe is related to the turnip. In Latin, rapa which is part of the scientific name, means turnip. It resembles a bitter green -- such as spinach, but the taste is much more intense.

If either of these is what you're looking for, seeds are available through Cyberseeds, PO Box 171102, San Antonio, TX 78217-1102.
