There are several methods to try. One is to cut the vines back to the ground repeatedly, thus exhausting their root reserves. Another is to cut them off at the ground and then cover them with heavy layers of newspaper or cardboard topped with mulch. This method in effect smothers them. The third method would be to use an herbicide such as glyphosate according to the label instructions and being careful not to damage desirable plants. Be sure to use the concentration intended for "brush" rather than the lower concentration intended for garden use.
