Generally mildew thrives in a location where air circulation is poor, sunlight is minimal and where there is a constant source of humidity such as frequent evening watering. In some cases, however, certain plants are often affected by mildew no matter what the growing conditions. You might want to do what you can to provide good air circulation and reduce humidity and then check with your County Extension (263-9226) for any additional control suggestions they may have -- any appropriate spray program would have to be selected based on which plants are being affected.
