I planted two pampas grass plants in the spring of 1998. They have never bloomed. Can you tell me why?

Cortaderia selloana, or pampas grass, thrives in a sunny location with moist, well-draining soil. If your plants are receiving this treatment, I'd guess they just need a little time to mature before they're ready to send up plumes. Sometimes transplants can take a full year to become established before they're able to perform to the best of their ability. Don't give up on your plants! Just be a little patient and they'll surely reward you - probably by next summer.
