I have a strawberry guava bush and a friend would like a clipping. How do i clip the branch for her and will it grow? Does she need to root it first or just plant it?

To assure success, cuttings need to be rooted before they're planted in the garden. There are several ways you can propagate your plant; you can divide the shrub, removing a small section of roots with a stem attached, or you can bend one of the branches down to ground level, notch it slightly where it makes contact with the earth and then cover the wound with soil, or you can take a semi-ripe cutting in mid- to late-summer, dip the cut end in rooting hormone and place it moistened potting soil. Roots should develop from an old leaf scar on the cutting.
