I just bought four shrubs with the title HEBE on them. They are varigated shrubs with a purple small bloom that bees will probably love? My questions is... What is HEBE? Will they do ok in the winter? Will Deer eat them?

Hebe is native to New Zealand and closely related to Veronica. In fact, it's often sold under the name Veronica. These are fast-growing evergreen shrubs in mild-winter climates and provide good flower display all season long. Some cultivars are hardy to your region, but some are sensitive to frost and will need protection. If you purchased your Hebe locally, it's probably hardy. But, if you can find out the name of the cultivar, we can do some research for you. Just send another question through the site.

As for being deer proof, deer will eat almost anything if they're hungry enough. Hebe isn't on their all-time favorite list, but that doesn't mean your plant is safe from them!
