I have some wild maidenhair ferns that are growing on property we will be buiding a house on in 2000. Now they are growing in the spot where the house will go. Can I transplant them to another area on the property now or in spring? Or can I overwinter them in my current home's basement?

Since it's already late in the year, it would be best to move the ferns to their new location in early spring. I wouldn't try overwintering them in the house. Maidenhair ferns are lovely--good luck with transplanting them!
