Can I start a pecan tree from one fallen from the trees? If so which side up--the point or flat side?

Yes you can. Just keep in mind that in order to get top quality pecans from the tree, you will need to graft it to an improved variety later on in its life.

It doesn't matter which way you set the seeds. In nature they land on the ground and get covered up all sorts of ways. I generally just lay them on their sides and cover them with an inch or so of dirt and they come up fine.
