These plants are quite winter hardy and should do fine outside during the winter. One concern however if they are in pots is that the roots may freeze since they are not insulated by the ground. You might want to bury the pots to the rim in the ground or surround the roots with insulating mulch to compensate for that. Keep in mind also that terra cotta pots will probably shatter if frozen. If you decide to move them to a sheltered but cool location such as an unheated garage, make sure the plants are kept on the dry side and check occasionally for mold.
