Growing Avocado Trees - Knowledgebase Question

I have been trying to find a comprehensive manual/instruction book on growing avocados. We have two mature trees, and have been tending them for about a year and a half, and we've gotten a bit of fruit (of acceptable quality) but only a bit. (This is good avocado-growing territory, and I know of people who routinely have so much fruit that they give away shopping bags full to anyone who's willing to take them!) I have searched book stores and Borders online for a good reference volume on the subject, and there doesn't seem to be much around. I did find one book with a promising title, but it's hard to find, so I don't have much hope of locating it. Do you have any recommendations?

One of my most prized possesions is a book called Pests of the Garden and Small Farm, published by the University of California (Publication 3332). It gives cultural information on avocado trees, plus all of the fruiting trees and shrubs that are commonly grown in California. It also has comprehensive IPM tactics for dealing with pests. It's worth ordering from Publications, Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources, University of California, 6701 San Pablo Ave., Oakland, CA 94608-1239.

Another excellent resource is the following website hosted by the California Avocado Society:

Hope the above helps!
