We recently had a few large oak trees taken down in the front of our home and the stumps were groud below grade. Because the trees were close to the house (approximately 6 feet from the foundation) we were concerned about possible future termite infestation of the remaining stumps below ground. What should we do to prevent this and what should we do with the stump grindings? |
The stump grindings can be added to the compost pile or aged and then used as mulch or can be used right away as mulch if applied in only a very light, sparse layer sprinkled over a larger area. For advice with regards to termites and their control, I would suggest you contact your local County Extension (599-6162) where they should have the most up-to-date recommendations. |
