I was given a camellia on recent visit to Florida. Should I keep it in the container in the house til spring or can I transplant it outdoors even if the weather has turned cold?

Camellias will grow nicely outdoors in your gardening region. If your potted plant has been enjoying indoor weather, you may stress it beyond recovery if you transplant it outdoors now. The plant's reaction will depend upon how cold the weather has been in your garden lately. I'd vote for playing it safe and keeping the plant indoors over the winter months, then planting it outdoors in the spring after the weather has warmed.
