I live in central CA and have 4 Queen palms that were bought at the same time & from the same grower. After planting them all perfectly and in a S/W location; five years later they are all different sizes. What's your opinion?

Usually the difference in growth rate has to do with the soil conditions which affect the availability of moisture and nutrients. Even though the palms are growing in the same vicinity in your yard, the soil conditions can differ dramatically. Those that are smaller in size may be getting equal treatment, but are not receiving equal amounts of nutrients and water. Perhaps there's hardpan restricting root growth, or maybe the soil is extra sandy, making water and fertilizer zip by the roots faster than they can take it up. I'd spend a little extra time feeding and watering the puny specimens and see if that doesn't help them catch up to their cousins in height.
