My husband is bringing home a weeping pussy willow tree. I have never heard of this kind of tree before. Is it a tree or a shrub? Also, we were wondering in what kind of environment it would need to thrive.

Your new Salix pendulina discolor is a shrub or small tree, growing eventually to 20', if not pruned annually to keep it smaller. Because the catkins develop only on new wood, you can prune at will to both contain the size and to encourage lots of soft, silky catkins.

Provide full sunshine, average garden soil, and lots of water during the growing season to make your weeping pussy willow thrive.
