I purchased a banana tree plant through the mail, and kept it outside for the summer. It did really well until I brought it inside for the winter. The leaves are turning brown all around the edges. I have put a grow light on it to see if that helps. Should I be watering this more inside or is there a certain nutrient I need to be supplementing?

It's not unusual for plants that are brought indoors after a summer outside to rebel at the change of environment. The light is dimmer, the humidity is lower and the temperature is warmer indoors. Give your banana tree an opportunity to adjust to its new surroundings and it should pull through without too much damage. You can mist the leaves every few days to increase humidity around the plant. Make sure there are no cold drafts and no bursts of heat from a vent near the plant. Provide light 10-12 hours each day and water when the top of the soil begins to dry out. Don't feed your plant - it's under stress now and you'll stress it further by feeding it. You can fertilize in the spring when new growth begins.

Give your banana tree a little time to adjust and it should be just fine.
