|After trimming, do they need to be fertilized?
|Ficus trees, whether grown indoors or out, have a natural cycle of vigorous growth (spring-summer), and a period of slow growth (autumn-winter). Ficus should be pruned in the late winter or early spring, just prior to the natural growth spurt. Once new growth begins, you can safely fertilize. If you fertilize in winter, you'll encourage new growth that's susceptible to cold weather damage. Wait until spring to fertilize, then apply according to label directions.
