I have cut my watering back to 5 minutes a day for my Texas sage shrubs. Is this the right amount?

Sage is a drought-tolerant plant, so daily watering isn't necessary. Instead of lightly sprinkling your plants every day, try a deep soaking once each week during the hottest part of the summer. Frequent watering will keep the roots close to the surface, making them dependent upon frequent watering. If you miss a day, the plants may wilt immediately! Watering deeply but infrequently encourages deep root growth, making the plants more tolerant of dry weather.
