How and when do you prune chestnut trees? The nuts usually fall off the tree in early fall. Do I need to prune it?

Chestnut trees do not require regular pruning, but you should certainly remove any misplaced, diseased, or broken branches, and any that impede traffic or otherwise pose a danger. These trees can grow 40'-60' tall with an equal spread, so make sure yours has plenty of elbow room to reach its full potential. When chestnuts are mature, they fall from the tree, usually in the autumn.

Enjoy the bounty of the harvest!
