My houseplants have little white, fuzzy insects all over the leaves. What are they and how do I get rid of them? |
My first guess is mealybugs. These cottony-looking insects congregate where a leaf meets a stem. Or, the plant could also be infested with whiteflies -- these small, moth-like insects will fly away when you touch the leaf. Finally, the insects might be aphids, which are small, oval insects usually found on the new growth. Spraying weekly with insecticidal soap will deter all of these pests. Keep the plant away from other houseplants until you have the infestation under control, because all these pests spread easily. |
