My lemon tree has small shriveled fruit on it and the leaves seem shriveled also. The fruit actully may be more lumpy than shriveled. Any idea as to what is causing this and how can I help her get better? |
Citrus bud mites can cause lumpy lemons and misshapened leaves. These critters are tiny and very difficult to see without magnification. They feed on the new leaves and fruit but the damage they cause doesn't show up for quite a while. You can control the bud mites with insecticidal soap sprays during the spring, or by using an oil spray in May when they're most active. For positive identification of the problem, you can take a sample of the affected fruit and leaves to your local Extension office. Contact them at (909) 788-2615. |
