No Flowers on Pansies - Knowledgebase Question

My pansies in my flower beds are not forming any flowers or buds. Otherwise, they look healthy and have plenty of leaves. The ones I planted in flower boxes on my deck from the same batch of seeds are blooming well. What should I do? I have fertilized them all evenly.

Sounds very perplexing, especially if both batches are getting exactly the same treatment. Is exposure to sunshine the same in both areas? Pansies bloom best in cool temperatures, moist soil, and morning sun.

Too much nitrogen fertilizer can produce lush foliage at the expense of blooms, and flowers which have been allowed to go to seed aren't as likely to blossom again. At this point I think I'd pinch back the non-blooming plants to encourage development of new flowering stems.

Hope they begin blooming soon!
