|I live on Cape Cod and am interested in finding shrubs and perennials that will survive in high winds. Our home is located on a large dune and we get winds up to 50 miles per hour. Our soil is very sandy. Can you recommend plants or tell me where to find information on growing plants under these conditions?
|Try to choose plants that have small leathery leaves that will not be tattered or desiccated by winds. You will also have better luck with fairly low-growing plants. Here a few suggestions of seaside-tolerant shrubs. Your Cooperative Extension Service (ph# 508-362-2511) may have plant lists of seaside plants.
